- Changing the Registration Name in Windows 95
-
-
- Did your PC come with Windows 95 preinstalled?
-
- Doesn't it tick you off to see that you're registered as "OEMUser" or
- some other impersonal nonsense? Or do you regret that when you installed
- Windows, you registered under your real name?
-
- Either way, this can be changed. Here's how:
-
- 1. Make sure you have a backup of the Registry. We're serious.
-
- 2. Launch regedit--select Start/Run, type regedit in the text box, and press Enter.
-
- 3. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, select Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion.
-
- 4. Double-click the RegisteredOrganization or RegisteredOwner options,
- and type in your changes.
-
- 5. Exit, and restart Windows.
-
- If you want to change registered-user information for other
- software, you can poke around the Software key. But make only
- one change at a time, and remember to ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY!!!
